ARTS COUNCIL COLLECTION NATIONAL PARTNERS PROGRAMME: UX RESEARCH

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many museums and galleries created new digital content that, during periods of closure, became a central part of their offer to visitors. Data on usage of the content told part of the story of how it was consumed, but there was a big gap in our understanding of what audiences thought and felt about the new digital experiences. This User Experience research, commissioned by Arts Council England, helped the Arts Council Collection National Partners programme begin to fill this gap.

Wafer Hadley devised and delivered a qualitative study that explored in detail what online audiences experienced during a number of 3D walkthrough virtual exhibitions. The learning from the study was presented at the Museum Next conference and helps us think more clearly about the online museum and gallery experience.
